John Fairfax Holdings Limited today said it had acquired the privately owned online dating service au Pty Ltd for .92 million.

"As well as online dating, RSVP was the first site in Australia to offer mobile dating through 3, Optus Zoo and Telstra i-mode," he said.

"RSVP also runs events and social activities that bring its members together face-to-face." Mr Revell also announced that Kevin Stokes had been appointed general manager of RSVP.

"Mr Stokes is an outstanding executive with nearly 15 years publishing and media experience in a sales, marketing, business development and general management roles," Mr Revell said.

"Mr Stokes is currently the acting director of Fairfax Enterprises, the company's retail sales and merchandising division." Prior to joining Fairfax early last year, Mr Stokes was the group head of enterprise for the Telegraph Group Limited in Britain.

Fairfax said all of the existing RSVP staff of 25 employees were being retained.

Launched in 1996, RSVP is a Sydney-based online dating service which has been growing at around 30 per cent per annum.
